The Department of Mathematics at Elon University seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin mid-August 2008. A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is required. Preference will be given to candidates working in the field of applied or industrial mathematics. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of or potential for excellent teaching of mathematics, scholarship, an understanding of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum, and the ability to make strong contributions to the growth of a developing Applied Mathematics track. The successful applicant must possess a willingness to teach introductory level statistics as well as courses in Elon’s interdisciplinary General Studies program.
The department recently developed an Applied Mathematics track within our major.
