The Department of Mathematics at Elon University seeks applicants for a continuing position as a Lecturer in Statistics to begin mid-August 2008. A Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics or related field with substantial background in Statistics is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of being or having the potential to be an excellent statistics educator and a strong contributor to the growth of a developing Statistics program with an understanding of the undergraduate statistics curriculum. Applicants must demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship in the liberal arts setting and the commitment to pursue that potential, including a willingness to teach in Elon’s interdisciplinary General Studies program.

The department and its Statistics Program Coordinator have recently developed a minor in Statistics and are investigating a Statistics concentration in our major. We seek applicants with a strong interest in curriculum development, technology as a teaching tool, and undergraduate research. Knowledge and interest in internship, career, and graduate study opportunities in Statistics would strengthen the application.
